The loss of his wife, pressure from his father-in-law and a bag of Peanut M&Ms stuck in a vending machine: These are the things that drive Davis Mitchell to the point of ruin. After writing a series of increasingly personal complaint letters to the vending machine company, Davis draws the attention of struggling customer service representative Karen Mareno, with whom he begins the reconstruction of his life. “Demolition,” a new film from Fox Searchlight Pictures, brings this story to theaters Friday, April 8.
Jake Gyllenhaal plays the lead role of Davis, while Naomi Watts plays the role of Karen. Chris Cooper also stars as Davis’ father-in-law, while Judah Lewis plays the role of Karen’s eccentric son, Chris. “Demolition” is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, and Bryan Sipe wrote the screenplay.
The comedy/drama opened the Toronto International Film Festival in September, where it made its world premiere.
