‘Hidden Figures’ inspires New York Times op-ed by Vernon Jordan on the power of movies to change and unite audiences

In The New York Times’ Sunday Review opinion section, senior managing director at Lazard Freres & Co., lawyer and civil rights activist Vernon Jordan wrote a personal reflection inspired by “Hidden Figures.”

Mr. Jordan talks about his adolescence mirrored in the film and says “the movie theater has always been a place where we can rediscover what unites us.” Read his full op-ed on The New York Times website.

Last week, 21st Century Fox and AMC Theatres announced that they were partnering to provide free screenings of “Hidden Figures” in communities across the country. The screenings, which celebrate Black History Month and look ahead to Women’s History Month in March, are intended to build broader awareness of the film’s true story and inspire younger generations to follow their dreams.
