Peter Rice is President of 21st Century Fox and Chairman and CEO of Fox Networks Group (FNG). He oversees all creative and business operations of Fox Broadcasting Company, FOX Sports and its regional sports networks, FX Networks, National Geographic, 20th Century Fox Television and FNG Latin America and Europe.

At FNG, Mr. Rice has been instrumental in driving the growth of the company’s television business across linear and OTT platforms. During his tenure, FNG’s revenue doubled as its portfolio was reorganized and aligned around four key brands reaching more than 2 billion subscribers worldwide, and in 2018, recording year-on-year U.S. pay TV subscriber growth in the face of industry-wide subscriber declines. Mr. Rice has overseen large-scale, long-term sports rights deals with the NFL, MLB, the UFC, FIFA, WWE, NASCAR, UEFA, and dozens of baseball, basketball and hockey teams. He was a driving force in the formation of National Geographic Partners, the expansion of FX into a three-network suite and the launch of FS1 and FS2. He was responsible for realigning its international channels business into a regional structure in Europe, Asia and Latin America, and integrating the company’s advertising divisions into a single, data-driven enterprise. He oversaw the launch of its Digital Consumer Group, the transformation of its authenticated streaming apps into an integrated experience on a single platform, and its participation in Hulu, where he serves on the board. He also oversaw, in partnership with 20th Century Fox, the company’s push into gaming through the establishment of FoxNext Games.

Under Mr. Rice’s direction, FNG’s shows have been among the most critically lauded in all of television. FNG is home to boundary-breaking, record-setting series like Empire, American Crime Story, The Simpsons, Fargo, American Horror Story, This is Us, Atlanta, Modern Family, The Americans and Genius. It broadcast the 2018 World Cup and the 2017 Super Bowl, the World Series, the Daytona 500, Thursday Night Football and television’s top-rated broadcast for nine consecutive years, America’s Game of the Week, as well as more than 7,000 other professional sporting events annually. In 2018, FNG earned 98 Primetime Emmy nominations, 12 Golden Global nominations and 31 Sports Emmy nominations. During Mr. Rice’s tenure, FNG has earned more than 600 Primetime Emmy nominations, 68 Golden Globe nominations and more than 200 Sports Emmys nominations.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Rice served for two years as Chairman, Entertainment, for FNG. He also served as Chairman, Entertainment, for Fox Broadcasting Company, helping to lead FOX to three seasons as the number one network and extend its streak to eight seasons as the top-rated broadcaster.

Before transitioning to Fox’s television business, Mr. Rice served as President, Fox Searchlight Pictures. During his tenure, Fox Searchlight generated 51 Academy Award and 42 Golden Globe Award nominations. The films released under his leadership include Slumdog Millionaire, Juno, Napoleon Dynamite, Little Miss Sunshine, The Last King of Scotland and Sideways.

Prior to leading Fox Searchlight, Mr. Rice was Executive Vice President, Production for Twentieth Century Fox, where he worked with director Baz Luhrmann in the development and production of Oscar Best Picture nominee Moulin Rouge and William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. He also served as the supervising creative executive on X-Men, the film that began the global movie franchise that has since grossed more than $5 billion at the worldwide box office.

Mr. Rice serves on the board of directors for Hulu, National Geographic Partners, the National Cable & Telecommunications Association and Southern California Public Radio. He also sits on the Motion Picture & Television Fund’s Board of Governors.

Mr. Rice began his career in the marketing department at Twentieth Century Fox in 1989 after graduating from the University of Nottingham.
