Los Angeles, CA – October 28, 2014 – In a move to better align Fox Networks Group’s (FNG) advertising sales teams Fox Broadcasting President of Sales Toby Byrne has been promoted to President, Advertising Sales for FNG, where he will be responsible for overseeing national ad sales functions and revenue generating strategies for FNG’s domestic entertainment and sports television businesses, including Fox Broadcasting, FOX Sports, and the company’s broad array of national cable outlets and their non-linear extensions. Making the announcement was Randy Freer, President and COO of FNG, to whom Mr. Byrne will continue to report.
The integration will combine the cable and broadcast network sales organizations, allowing the combined group to more effectively serve advertising partners and drive revenue with a focus on relationships, people and innovative advertising products. In his new role, Mr. Byrne will lead revenue growth across all FNG assets. Fox’s cable sales chief Lou LaTorre will report to Mr. Byrne.
“Toby is an exceptional leader that has guided our successful effort to combine broadcast and national cable sales for FOX Sports, led the revenue launch of FOX Sports 1, and spearheaded our push for recognition of the C7 metric in the Upfront,” said Mr. Freer. “He is the right person to creatively lead the Fox sales team as they bring our terrific content to market, drive revenue, and create maximum benefit for our marketing partners across all platforms and devices.”
“The ad marketplace has changed dramatically in just the last few years,” said Mr. Byrne. “We no longer live in a linear, single-stream environment, and we need to structure our sales organization to thrive in the evolving media marketplace. By combining the best attributes of our broadcast, sports, cable and digital sales organizations, we will better serve our clients in developing impactful marketing solutions.”
Mr. Byrne has been with Fox for almost 2 decades, having originally joined the company in early 1996 as an account services representative. He was made an account executive in December of that year, became a vice president in 2003, and was promoted to supervising Eastern sales in 2006. He was named President of Sales for Fox Broadcasting in 2010. Prior to joining FOX, Mr. Byrne was a media buyer at BBDO in New York. He is a graduate of Georgetown University.
